On my way to a perfume class I encounter an outdoor market near the Paris City Hall

It was very exciting, but I didn’t buy anything. I was still full from lunch.


Back to Paris from Versailles 

It’s time to eat lunch and I’m craving vegetables and beef. My cravings were satisfied at Thai at home located at 22 Rue des Bourdonnais – 75001 Paris.

I adore Thai food and Paris delivered. This phad saiew as it was labeled on the menu was packed with flavor. It was so tasty, I wanted to lick the plate. Being a classy person, I didn’t lick the plate. In addition to the beef dish I ordered a delicious mango beverage that complimented my meal. It tasted like mango and it was not thick and heavy. It was light and refreshing.

I did make a mistake – one I’m upset about. I should have ordered some spring rolls. I didn’t because I believed I would enter a coma if I was too full. I did commit to visiting the restaurant again. I did twice but they were close.

A stop at the famous Angelina at Versailles and Laduree

I’m enjoying my experience at Versailles and it is better than I could have imagined when I run into Angelina. It was a sweet surprise. I must have mulled over and debated with myself for nearly an hour about what to order. In the end, I went with cafe au lait because I’m struggling to put one foot in front of me. My jet-lagged body is killing me. The cafe au lait does the trick. It was so good that I savored every sip. See below for the cafe au lait and everything else I saw there.

I also ran into Laduree. I stopped in of course, but didn’t buy anything because I’m really a cookie, brownie cake girl. I did inquire about other locations especially if they they are located in the airport.

Breakfast of champions for my big day at Versailles 

It’s seven in the morning. I’m dressed and looking forward to touring Versailles. I thought it would be less than smart to not have something to eat in Paris before the trip to Versailles. It was actually a challenge to find a place to grab something to eat because Parisians don’t do earlybreakfast.  Finally, I had success at Pret A Manger Rue du Louvre 34-36 Rue du Louvre – Paris 75001.

I ordered a fresh, buttery  (and I mean buttery) croissant and pain au chocolat ( I can’t ever say no to chocolate).

Yes, I’m having a Nutella Crepe to end the day

I don’t know what came over me, but I suddenly started craving crepes so I made it happen. I had just one Nutella Crepe to end my full day in Paris at Le Reynou located at 2Bis Quai Megisserie – 75001 Paris.

As you can see from the picture, I attacked the crepe and almost forgot to capture a photo. It was delicious! I think I even made a noise with the first bite. YUM!

Lunch at an iconic Paris monument 

After a wonderful experience all the way up to the top of the Eiffel Tower, I made my way to Millenia 58 Tour Eiffel for lunch which has the address of 6 Avenue Gustave Eiffel 75007 Paris.

I  ended up at a window seat with a great view of the city while enjoying a delicious lunch. Everything was just so yummy that I plan to recreate this meal at home on a rainy, windy and gray day just like I experienced the day I was at the Eiffel Tower. I ate a delicious chilled pasta that was seasoned well and featured shrimp and pomegranate seeds. Next up on the menu was a well seasoned creamy pasta with smoked hake. I ate every bite since I was craving comfort food. Finally, I enjoyed the last course of cheese and bread. I did order a cosmopolitan drink. It was good, but I have had better in the US.

Day two in Paris begins with baked goods

Just across the street from my hotel is this restaurant called Le Zimmer located at 1 place du Chatelet – 75001 Paris. I was eager to get to touring the Eiffel Tower so I ordered something quick: baked goods featuring a croissant and pain au chocolat and hot chocolate. The baked goods were good!

My first meal in the City of Lights

After a decent non-stop flight to Paris, a short nap and a Big Bus tour, I sit down for my first meal at Au Pied de Cochon located at 6, rue Coquilliere – 75001, Paris. The restaurant has been around since 1947.

I ordered the lamb shoulder with pureed white beans and chorizo with a fine glass of red wine.

My sweet finish was a moist chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream.

Since this restaurant’s specialty is pig, should I have ordered a cochon? Yes, but no regrets because I’m in Paris. I’m winning!

New year means a new beginning

I can’t believe I didn’t post anything in 2016. I resolve to do better in 2017. 

Generally, I will cook on Sundays to get me through the week if I don’t have any other time or occasion to cook. 

This evening, I prepared for my week these Sunday creations. See pictures below. I prepared cannelli beans and spinach seasoned with garlic, salt and pepper.

Next up, I seared salmon in coconut oil.The salmon was seasoned with old bay seasoning, salt and pepper.

For a healthy alternative to rice, I made 3/4 cup of quinoa with a can of black beans with green and yellow squash.

Lastly, I prepared pork chops that were marinated with garlic, adobo, salt and pepper and seared in a pan with bacon fat and finished in the oven. 

Both the salmon and pork will serve as my protein for dinner with a salad.

I will alternate the salmon and pork for lunch with the quinoa or beans and spinach.

Tacos year round


This past year, my go-to food has been tacos with a variety of fillings such as beef, turkey, salmon or cod with  veggies, cheese and a sauce. Either soft or hard tacos individually or together makes me happy. On this particular occasion, it took me three hours to determine what I wanted to eat. Finally, I thought I’ll make tacos since I know I always have a taco kit around. I decided to use whatever ingredients I could find that’s a good combination. I came up with:


Soft tacos
Cooked ground turkey
Cannellini beans
Fresh lime juice over ground turkey
Parmesan cheese
Hot taco sauce
Avacado optional
Sour cream optional

Put soft tacos in a hot pan over medium heat. Add the above items in the  center of each taco. Heat tacos until all items are hot and cheese is just melted through. Top with sour cream and/or additional toppings.

This impromptu dinner was fresh, delicious and satisfying especially with red wine or preferred adult beverage.
